BSMSA Level 5 Diploma in Healthcare Management

Specifically designed for existing and aspiring managers working, or who wish to work in primary care or in a health care environment.

The Diploma in Healthcare Management is designed specifically for managers in general practice.

Whilst the qualification is purpose-built for Primary Care the contents cover key management skills that can be transferred to a variety of environments. The Diploma in Healthcare Management provides the learner with a vital stepping stone on their way to senior management.

The qualification is open to existing managers and potential managers in a health or social care environment. Candidates must be educated to level 3 standard or should have a background that will enable them to benefit from the qualification. Candidates who are unable to fulfil the entry requirements, but who have suitable management experience in any field, may be accepted onto the course providing they can find an informal attachment to a local General Practice.

About the course:

The Diploma is awarded on the achievement of 38 Learning credits which will be gained by completing the following units:

• Managing Medical Ethics and Legal Requirements
• Financial Management and Budgeting in a Primary Care Health Environment
• Managing Information and Communication in a Primary Care Health Environment
• Developing and Leading Teams to Achieve Organisational Goals and Objectives
• Developing or Improving Services in a Primary Care and Health Environment
• Managing Recruitment
• Becoming an Effective Leader

The course is offered as a 60-week programme with full mentor ongoing support throughout the course. Having completed the 6 units you will progress to the Business Improvement Project.

This is, in the main part, a distance learning course with assignment based assessments. However, you will be required to complete a final business project presentation which can be virtually or may require you to attend an exam centre to complete. We do always endeavour to try and arrange one close to your location.

This course is to be completed within 24 months or further fees will be charged.
